Lowe was a Civil War aeronaut, scientist, and inventor who became known as the father of military aerial reconnaissance. McAuley will highlight his unique inventions and his vision for a United States Balloon Corps in the Union army. The concept was enthusiastically received by some and rejected by others. And yet, his personal traits of creativity and perseverance were an inspiration to many.
