In 1858, Abraham Lincoln casually created a time capsule for posterity in the form of a 3.25" x 5/78" scuffed, brown-black, notebook given as a campaign aid to a long-time friend and legislative candidate, James N. Brown. A facsimile was printed in 1901. For the first time, and with an introduction by Harold Holzer, editor Ross Heller brings us the contents of the 1858 notebook as well as the fascinating story of its 164-year journey.
